The Light Adjustable Lens

(LAL)

First of its kind in the world

First in the Triad

Dr. Ding treating a patient with the LAL

Ascend Eye Center is introducing to the Triad a groundbreaking new product for cataract surgery called the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL).

UNIQUE CARE

What makes the Light Adjustable Lens unique?

Unlike traditional cataract surgery which relies on estimations of your vision and how your eye will heal, the Light Adjustable Lens is the first and only option allowing you to customize your vision AFTER surgery. It gives you, the patient, the ultimate control to test drive your vision, make adjustments, and then choose the best version for your final result.

SAFE CARE FIRST

Is this safe and how does it work?

The Light Adjustable Lens is FDA approved and has been successfully used by thousands of patients around the world.

It is implanted into the eye once the cloudy cataract has been removed. After surgery, you will have several visits with Dr. Ding, your surgeon, to discuss your results and make up to three (3) adjustments based on your goals. Each adjustment is performed in our office on the special Light Delivery Device, or LDD. We plug your unique treatment into the LDD, then it delivers a special wavelength of UV light causing small changes in the shape of the lens implant and gives you that customized result.

These treatments are quick and painless. Once you find your best fit, we will perform the final light treatments.

WHO BENEFITS

Who will this new lens benefit?

The Light Adjustable Lens could benefit potentially EVERYONE because we will ALL grow cataracts over time.

As we age, the lens inside your eye becomes cloudy, causing decreased vision and difficulty with glare, such as trouble driving at night or in the rain.

Anyone with a cataract ripe enough for surgery may be considered for the Light Adjustable Lens. This includes patients with prior LASIK/PRK, glaucoma, and macular degeneration who are usually counseled against forms of premium technology in traditional cataract surgery.

WORTHY INVESTMENT

Is the Light Adjustable Lens expensive?

Let's imagine traditional cataract surgery as buying a wedding gown off the rack based off of your size measurements. It should fit reasonably, but there are always variations. Now, the Light Adjustable Lens is the ultimate customized gown, and Dr. Ding is your tailor to make it fit like a glove.

It is an investment for both a patient and surgeon in terms of time, energy, and materials. Portions of the surgery are not covered by medical insurance and are out-of-pocket expenses.

These are the eyes through which you will experience every aspect of your life. At Ascend Eye Center, we think it is definitely a worthy investment!
